The Rise of the Digital Scribe: What it Means for General Practice

Date: 20th May 2025

Time: 19:30 – 20:30

Speaker: Dr. Conor O’Shea, National co-ordinator GPIT group, Irish College of GPs

Topic: As a follow-up to our webinar late last year on “AI in general practice – change is coming”, Dr. Conor O’Shea, from the GPIT group, takes a deeper look at the growing role of digital scribe technologies in general practice. As primary care faces increasing administrative burdens and time pressures, digital scribes—AI-powered tools that assist with clinical documentation—are emerging as a potential solution to streamline workflow and support clinician wellbeing. This webinar will examine how these tools work, their benefits and limitations, and what GPs should consider when evaluating their use in practice. Attendees will gain a practical understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with integrating digital scribes into the consultation room.
